Privacy notice
Short version
We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to see how many people read each page. No cookie is involved, nobody is followed from site to site, and the only thing we ever look at is aggregate counts. Fonts and stylesheets load from breedlifespan.com itself, no ad pixel runs here, and nothing in the site's own code saves data in your browser (local storage, session storage, IndexedDB).
How the page counting works
Each page carries a small Cloudflare script that tells Cloudflare a page was viewed. Cloudflare turns those reports into summary numbers — views per page, country, referring site, browser type — and that summary is all we see; there is no per-reader record on our side and no identifier stored in your browser. We count on legitimate interest, GDPR Article 6(1)(f), for this: it tells us which breed pages are actually read. Blocking cloudflareinsights.com with a browser setting or extension turns the counting off, and every page still works.
What hosting requests involve
Pages go out through Cloudflare rather than a machine we run ourselves. Whoever asks for a page hands Cloudflare an IP address, the path requested, a timestamp and a browser identifier — that happens on every request made over HTTP, not because this site opted in. Handling it rests on the GDPR's legitimate-interest ground, Article 6(1)(f): there is no way to hand someone a page without it. We never request per-visitor logs from Cloudflare and build no profiles from what it holds; its own policy covers how long that routing data sticks around.
When you email us
Writing to hello@breedlifespan.com gives us your address, whatever you typed, and any files attached. That exists only so we can answer or fix a figure you flagged; the thread gets removed once we're done with it, unless you tell us to keep it. Legitimate interest is the basis again — replying to whoever wrote in. None of it goes to a marketer, and none of it is sold.

Every paper we cite is linked exactly as published, with nothing appended to track the click. Once you leave, whatever site you land on answers for its own privacy practices, not us.
Rights you hold under EU and UK law
If the GDPR or the UK GDPR covers you, you can ask us to show you the data we hold, fix it, delete it, restrict how we use it, object to that use, or hand it over in a portable file. Write to the address above; a reply is due within a month. A complaint can also go to the supervisory authority wherever you live or work, instead of or alongside writing to us.
Should this site start collecting anything past those page totals, the change gets described here first.
